NIH K Awards

The Mentored Career Development Awards (K08, K23, K25, K76, K99/R00, and the R03/GEMSSTAR program) are offered by multiple NIH Institutes. The Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award (K08) and the Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K23) exist in the areas of anesthesiology, clinical pharmacology and trauma and burn injury to support the development of outstanding academic physician-scientists. These awards provide support for a period of 3 to 5 years of supervised research and study to clinically trained professionals who have the commitment and potential to develop into productive, independent investigators. The awards support developmental experiences in either a laboratory or a clinical research setting.
