For medical students interested in a career as an academic anesthesiologist, an anesthesiology residency program that provides a specific research track may be a good option. While the details of individual programs vary, most offer 6-9 months of research time during residency followed by a 1-2 year commitment to research at that institution after graduation.
eSAS has compiled a list of institutions that offer Residency Research Tracks that is available for viewing in a shared file here.
If information about a program at your home institution is missing, please email the information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For advice on selecting a research-oriented residency, see the blog post “Picking A Research-Oriented Anesthesiology Residency“, by Boris Heifets, MD, PhD from Stanford University.
